This year’s Recycle Week is in September – it’s usually in June, but various minor political events got in the way… And in London we’re planning a bit of a splash!
13 London boroughs have been funded by Recycle for London this year to run resident communications campaigns on the ground, each one different and targeted on the needs of a particular audience, housing type or issue in that area. All funded activity is focusing on our theme of ‘The Unusual Suspects’ – those items that we all (occasionally) forgot about, such as shampoo bottles from the upstairs bathroom, the insides of toilet rolls, empty tissue boxes and perfume bottles.
To support and highlight the work that waste authorities are doing across the capital, the Recycle for London team will also be running a regional PR campaign about ‘bad bathroom habits’, helping consumers to think about those bathroom items that don’t get recycled as much as they could be. Look out for our media activity – both traditional and social – between 12th and 18th September which targets 18-34 year olds in shared houses with messages about being a good housemate and shaking off those bad bathroom habits!
Social media content and messaging will be shared nearer the time with waste authorities, so that they can get involved with the wider campaign whether they received funding or not.
